A handful of Tyler Spartans players have been invited to the 2024 New Balance Future Stars Series Underclass Combine held at Vanderbilt University. The NBFSS program is unlike any other, it is a player development-driven organization with a roadmap paved for players from freshman year to graduation. NBFSS touts some impressive alumni who have come through their program: Grayson Rodriguez (Baltimore Orioles), Cam Collier (Cincinnati Reds), and Dylan Crews (Washington Nationals).
The journey begins at regional combines or scout days. Each player receives a written evaluation from a former professional MLB scout who has signed pro players. Scout days are exclusively held for partner programs that are hand-picked and share the same values. The scouts travel to the partner program locations and conduct evaluations on all members of the program. The top performers are chosen for the National Combines which host hundreds of players from all over North and Latin America. From the National Combines, the top players are narrowed down even further and have the opportunity to be selected for one of the Main Events. The Main Events are hosted at Minute Maid Park, Fenway Park, and many other notable ball fields!
