Tyler Spartans Swing Into Action

The Tyler Spartans Baseball Club hit the diamond in Longview, Texas, on April 6th and 7th. The four spring teams battled it out against tough opponents all weekend. The Tyler Spartans 2029 – McFarland team fell short in the championship game to Freedom Valor by a score of 7-4. The 2029 – McFarland team finished 3-2 on the weekend and was led by Chase Hamilton who was selected as Player of the Week. Hamilton hit .636 on the weekend, drove in 6 runs, and hit a towering homerun over the right-center field fence in the championship game.

Steve Lewis

Steve Lewis has been with the Tyler Spartans since the very beginning. He is a passionate coach that gets the most out of his players. After one year as a member of the Mt. San Jacinto Jr. College baseball team (San Jacinto, CA), Steve joined the Air Force and proudly served our country for 4 years. In 2013, Steve moved to Flint, Texas where he continued coaching youth baseball. Coach Lewis brings a wealth of baseball knowledge as a former varsity assistant baseball coach at Brook Hill High School (Bullard, TX). Along with working full-time and managing 2 Tyler Spartans teams, Coach Lewis gives private baseball lessons in his free time.
